What is a CFA®?
What is a CFA®?
The CFA credential is the most prestigious certification in the investment management industry. Obtaining the certification requires passing three levels, each consisting of a six-hour exam, covering topics including portfolio management and wealth planning, alternative investments, equity and fixed income investing, derivatives, economics, quantitative methods and ethical and professional standards. According to the CFA Institute, only about 15% of candidates that commence the program earn the CFA designation.
What is a CFP®?
What is a CFP®?
The certified financial planner (CFP®) certification is viewed as the gold standard in financial planning. Each designee has received a formal designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. CFP® professionals help individuals in a variety of areas in managing their finances, such as retirement, investing, education, insurance, estate, and taxes. Becoming a CFP® professional is a difficult and stringent process. It requires years of experience, successful completion of standardized exams, a demonstration of ethics, and a formal education. An important quality of a CFP® professional is that they have a fiduciary duty, meaning they must make decisions with their client's best interests in mind. To maintain certification holders are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
