Our Approach: A purpose-based wealth management process

Purpose-Based Wealth Management

Typical industry portfolio mix ranges are mostly arbitrary. Chatham Capital Group takes a different approach. Financial and investment decisions are based on the purpose they serve to meet a client’s financial circumstances.

Assessing and accounting for the needs of clients across key time frames is paramount in constructing a strategy.

Questions We Ask

Here are some questions that we ask our clients.

  • Are you following sound investment principles?

  • Is your wealth growing sufficiently to meet your financial needs?

  • Do you have a clear picture of what you want and need from your investments?

  • Which kinds of investments are right for you?

  • Is your asset allocation appropriate given your risk tolerance?

The cost of meeting your financial needs increases over time because of inflation.

Therefore, the value of your investment assets must rise over time at a rate at least as much as your future financial needs.  Investment assets must be structured in a way that provides favorable odds of generating necessary returns to meet your needs.   This must be done WITHOUT excessive variability of short-term market values.

Purposed-Based Investment Beliefs

We DO NOT do the following:

  • Chase investment performance as opposed to investing with a purpose in mind.

  • Invest client assets in expensive products.

  • Have too much diversification.

  • Have too little diversification.

  • Invest based on past performance without considering current investment merit.

  • Expose safe investments to credit or liquidity risk.

  • Follow investment counsel from salesmen.
